Portrait Paintings From Photo Milestone

Today, we reached a milestone in SEO for this portrait painting website.  We came up ranked number 10, first page, for the first time, for the generic keyphrase, “portrait paintings from photo” (without quotes). Results will vary from day to day, and should improve in the next couple of days due to this post.

Studio Art With Live Models

Every artist, to further their skills and technique, should learn to paint, “in real time” with live models.

Here are two recent portraits I’ve completed in a studio setting at Artspace, located in downtown Raleigh, NC.

Here you can see the model. Though mine wasn’t the best painting in the class, it was the best likeness in the class. I like faces.

And this is the best shot I got with the model. It was a fun pose. Yay cowboys!  Sadly this is as far as I got to develop it because time ran out. It’s amazing how fast a seven hour class can go by when you’re concentrating!

50 Year Old Finger Print Forgery?

As the controversy over the “Matter Pollocks” found in a Long Island storage locker fades away, another painting attributed to Jackson Pollock has become the center of a dispute. A Long Island couple, Ken and Kathy Parker, believe that the painting, which was given to Ken Parker’s father more than 20 years ago, is a work by the artist. Four experts who have examined a fingerprint on the back of the stretcher disagree about it, one asserting that it is Pollock’s and another charging that the print is forged. Meanwhile, a New York woman says that she gave the painting to Ken Parker Sr. and that it most definitely is not a Jackson Pollock.

Cultural Arts Festival Coming To Raleigh

The United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County presents its annual Cultural Arts Festival on Saturday, August 16 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Wakefield High School, 2200 Wakefield Pines Dr, in Raleigh, N.C.

This festival features professional artists from across the country who will showcase samples of their youth programming. United Arts also offers a Directory of artists from across the country who present educational arts programs designed specifically for young audiences.

In addition to youth programming, many of these artists also present performances that would be suitable for adult/all-ages audiences at low to moderate costs. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend!
